Hourly Care

 

Our sensitive care staffs provide Personal Care services, which may include:

  • Bathing or washing, and the monitoring of pressure areas
  • Day-to-day hair care
  • Brushing of teeth or dentures, or any other oral hygiene
  • Getting in or out of bed
  • Getting dressed or undressing
  • Feeding
  • Basic hand & foot care (excluding nail cutting)
  • Basic skin care, where there is no inflamed or broken skin
  • Shaving as required, (using electric shaves)
  • Toilet needs, including the management of continence
  • Prompt, assist and administer medication in accordance with the Care Plan
  • Manual handling with or without the use of a hoist
  • Monitoring general safety and welfare of user
  • Assistance with toileting, disposal of incontinence pads, emptying colostomy and catheter bags
    (though not tubes) and help with maintaining personal hygiene

Personal Care excludes the following primary health care functions:

  • Administration of drugs including by injection
  • Application of dressings, Care of wounds or changing of colostomy or catheter bags
  • Treatment of pressure sores, Supervision of specialist medical treatment, pet feeding, nail trimming (people with diabetes) / cooking
  • Preparing of complex foods

 

Practical and Social Support includes:

  • Domestic cleaning but only as part of a Care Plan which includes personal care
  • Monitor Personal Care, excluding general safety and welfare of Service User and home environment
  • Preparation of light meals
  • Seeking basic information and assisting with form-filling
  • Ensuring that the user is warm and secure

 

Domestic tasks include:

  • Dusting, vacuum cleaning, washing floors, washing crockery and cutlery
  • Polishing large items of furniture, cleaning baths, sinks, work surfaces
  • Toilets and ovens, removing cobwebs from ceilings and walls
  • Laundering sheets, towels, personal clothing
  • Ironing, shopping, pension and prescription collection
  • Changing bed linen, emptying commode, pet care (not harmful ones- discretionary)
